Prepare your base

First
When preparing the base or foundation for your garden shed, it is important to consider the necessary space for the delivery of a prefabricated shed. Ensure that your driveway is free from any obstacles such as trees or tree limbs within the access area. If your shed will be placed on a crushed stone or concrete pad, it will be delivered using a specially designed trailer similar to a rollback. Our trailer will back over the shed pad and tilt up, allowing the shed to carefully slide off the back of the trailer as we pull the truck forward away from the pad. Sufficient space in front of the shed is required for the truck to maneuver and exit in a straight line. The required distance may vary depending on the length of the building, but it is generally recommended to have approximately 85 to 150 feet of clearance.
Gravel Base
Determine the optimal location for your garden shed on your property.

Mark out an area that is 1 foot larger than the length and width of the shed. For example, if you have a 10 X 10 storage shed, the shed base foundation should be 12′ X 12′. Place a wooden or metal stake in the ground at each corner. Ensure that the shed base is square before proceeding to the next step. A useful tip to achieve this is to measure across the shed base from stake to stake using a measuring tape. If two measuring tapes are used, they should form an X shape across the desired shed base location. If the measurements are equal, it means that the shed base is square.

Connect the stakes with a string line to create a box or rectangle guide for the stone base.

Place garden fabric on the desired area to prevent grass and weeds from growing underneath the shed (optional).

Spread 5/8″ crushed stone over the area. You may choose to use larger crushed stone, but it may be more challenging to spread and level. The stone shed base should have a minimum thickness/height of 4-6″ from ground level to prevent moisture buildup.

Level the stone to create a smooth surface. Depending on the size of the shed base foundation, you can use a tractor or garden rake for this task. It is essential to have a level shed base to ensure that the doors and windows of the garden shed operate correctly.
Concrete Pads

Concrete foundations for sheds are typically constructed using 6 inches of concrete to support the storage shed. It is important that the concrete pad matches the dimensions of the shed or is slightly smaller in size. However, it is worth noting that concrete pads can be quite costly, sometimes almost equaling the price of the shed. Therefore, we suggest using a shed base made of 5/8 crushed stone as a more cost-effective alternative.
